Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize CAD tools and scripts to support various stages of CPU design, including synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and power optimization.
  • Design and implement automated design flows to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and accelerate the design process. Ensure that these flows are robust, scalable, and easy to maintain.
  • Drive continuous improvement of design methodologies to enhance design quality, productivity, and time-to-market. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and integrate the latest techniques and tools into our workflows.
  • Work closely with design and verification teams to identify bottlenecks and pain points in existing processes. Provide expert-level support and training to team members on design enablement.
  • Ensure seamless integration of new tools and methodologies into existing design environments. Validate the effectiveness of new tools and flows through rigorous testing and performance benchmarking.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for tools, flows, and methodologies. Ensure that best practices are well-documented and accessible to all team members.
  • Lead initiatives to explore new tools and methodologies that can provide competitive advantages in CPU design. Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their applicability to our projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team. Lead by example in driving a culture of excellence and innovation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in design enablement within CPU design, semiconductor design, or a closely related field.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in CAD tools such as Synopsys, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Perl, TCL, or Shell for automation of design flows.
  • Strong understanding of RTL design, synthesis, physical design, timing analysis, and power optimization.
  • Experience with design verification tools and methodologies (e.g., UVM, SystemVerilog).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and build automation tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about complex design challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive attitude towards continuous learning and improvement.
  • Leadership skills and experience mentoring or leading engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in CPU or GPU architecture and design.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI-driven design automation tools.
  • Knowledge of low-power design techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
